1863 first British edition published by Bentley. Half-leather and cloth with marbled endsheets and page edges.
Some age-related staining to mainly the plates. The vast majority of the rest of the pages are creamy-white and clean and sharp. Fold-out map in great condition considering its age. With ALL 6 of the color lithographs. The color lithographs are NOT listed in the List of Illustrations.
The book is likely in a binding from the late 1800s or early 1900s. The leather is aged and worn at outer hinges, and inner front hinge is cracked, the rear inner hinge tender. The first editions are not very common at all, whereas the second editions are far more common.
