FIVE MONTHS' SPORT IN SOMALI LAND. A very scarce account of the time when this region of Africa was a haven of wildlife and a holiday destination of the upper classes. Wolverton details his lion-hunting episodes through the Ogaden and near the Webbi Shabeyli, when not confronting recalcitrant bearers. He also hunted oryx, kudu, gazelle and crocodile.
The illustrations by Arthur Paget are particularly nice. Czech, Bibliography of African Big Game Hunting Books. 20 plates + text illustrations + folding colour map. Very good condition, cloth tanned on the spine and with a small ink stain to rear board, armorial bookplate of Edmund Giles Loder on front pastedown, free endpapers foxed. Binding cracked at page 48 but still firm, a couple of faint pencil marks to the margins of 2 pages but otherwise clean and tidy.
